Skoda Karoq To Be Launched Digitally; Details Here

Coronavirus pandemic has affected every industry including automobile. In fact, the Indian automobile industry witnessed loss of Rs 21,000 crore due to plant closures in March, 2020. Several dealerships are on the brink of shutting down and multiple launches have been delayed. The Czech carmaker Skoda, like others, too has been dealing hard with COVID-19 crisis. Speaking to carandbike, Zac Hollis, Director, Sales, Service and Marketing, Skoda Auto India, has revealed that the company will delay new product launches including the next-generation Octavia. The sedan was scheduled to launch in October, 2020 and now it’s postponed to early 2021.

The Skoda Karoq SUV, however, will be launched digitally as soon as the COVID-19 lockdown lifts. The SUV made its first public appearance at this year’s Auto Expo. In India, the Skoda Karoq will be made available with a 1.5L turbo petrol engine only. The gasoline unit pushes out a claimed power of 150PS and a peak torque of 250Nm. For performing transmission duties, the SUV will have a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.

Unlike its global model that comes with 4X4 drivetrain system, the India-spec version will be offered with FWD (front-wheel-drive) system. The SUV will be capable to do 0 to 100kmph in 9 seconds and attain a top speed of 202kmph.
