Skoda Karoq India Launch Early Next Year
Skoda Auto will soon expand its SUV lineup in the Indian market. The Czech Republic carmaker will introduce the Skoda Karoq compact SUV in the first half of the next year, followed by a mid-size SUV by mid 2021. The latter one will be positioned below the Karoq and launched under Volkswagen Group’s India 2.0 project.
Based on the MQB platform, the Skoda Karoq derives some of its styling bits from the Kodiaq 7-seater SUV. Upfront, the compact SUV features the signature grille with a chrome frame, trapezoidal fog lamp, a wide air dam and rectangular wraparound headlamps with LED DRLs. It also gets a dual-tone rear bumper with integrated reflectors and wraparound taillamps.
With respect to dimensions, the Skoda Karoq is 4382mm long, 1814mm wide and 1605mm tall. It has a 2638mm long wheelbase and a ground clearance of 200mm. The Skoda Karoq could be offered with both petrol and diesel powertrains. While the petrol version will use a 1.5L turbocharged motor, the oil burner could be a 1.6L or 2.0L unit. The SUV lineup will come with the DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.
