Likely to be introduced in 2021, the Skoda Karoq facelift will receive subtle design changes and new engine option.
Skoda has recently launched the Karoq mid-sized SUV in the Indian market; however, the International-spec model is already 3 years old. The company has also started testing the new Karoq facelift, as the prototype of the updated model has been spied for the first time.
The SUV’s front profile is covered with thin cloth, which shows that the SUV looks largely identical to the current model. At first glance, it is difficult to reveal the possible changes on offer. On a cloder look, it is visible that the Karoq facelift ets differently styled front grille with revised vertical slats. The SUV also gets re-styled front bumper.
It is expected that the Skoda Karoq facelift could receive the optional matrix LED headlamps, which we have already seen on the new Octavia and the Superb facelift. The rear profile looks similar to the existing model. The updated model won’t receive the full-width LED light.
What’s interesting is that Skoda Karoq facelift could receive a new engine option. It is reported that the updated model could receive a new conventional powertrain or a plug-in hybrid engine. The company could also introduce the electrified version of the Karoq facelift. Volkswagen is also readying the plug-in hybrid version of the T-ROC, and the same system could also power the Skoda Karoq.
The report claims that the Skoda Karoq facelift interior was completely exposed, which suggests that the design of the interior won’t receive major changes. It is expected that the SUV could receive an upgraded digital instrument console and VW Group’s MIB 3 infotainment system. The updated Skoda Karoq facelift is expected to be introduced in 2021. Previous media reports claim that Skoda could also introduce the high-performance RS variant of the Karoq.
