Skoda confirmed that it will introduce a new 5-seater SUV that will go up against the Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. The production version of the vehicle will have its India debut at the 2020 Auto Expo.

Skoda released a teaser video revealing the official name and SUV-ish silhouette of the vehicle. The teaser confirms that the Skoda Kamiq will feature unique twin-strip headlamps and LED DRLs (daytime running lights). It design and styling will be inspired by the Skoda Vision X concept that first broke cover at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.

The crossover will underpin VW Group’s MQB platform that hints it will come with FWD (front-wheel-drive) system. Though, the higher trims might get AWD (all-wheel-drive). Similar to the Vision X concept, the Skoda Kamiq SUV might feature 20-inch alloy wheels. It will look lower and wider than the traditional SUVs, and appeal the younger buyers than Karoq and Kodiaq.
