Skoda Kamiq compact SUV will make global debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.

The much-awaited Skoda Kamiq compact SUV has finally been revealed ahead of the official debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show on March 5, 2019. It is the smallest Skoda SUV and the third model to join the Kodiaq and Karoq. The Kamiq SUV will also arrive in India in 2020.

The Skoda Kamiq is built on the versatile MQB AO platform that also underpins the Volkswagen T-Cross and Seat Arona. The SUV’s design is inspired with the Vision X concept, which was unveiled at the last year’s Geneva Motor Show. The Kamiq compact SUV also has styling resemblance with the Karoq and Kodiaq SUVs. It comes with a more upright grille, and optional narrow LED daytime running lights with dynamic indicators, wider airdam and silver skid plate.

Skoda Kamiq Side Profile

The Skoda Kamiq’s boot features the Skoda badge in letters instead of the Skoda’s logo. In terms of proportions, the Kamiq is 4,241mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2,651mm. This SUV is slightly longer than its German sibling, the Volkswagen T-Cross. However, both these SUVs feature the same 2,651mm wheelbase. However, the T-Cross for the European nations feature wheelbase of 2,560mm.

The company claims that the longer wheelbase will create more interior space. In fact, it is claimed to offer more rear legroom than the Octavia and Karoq. The Skoda Kamiq SUV comes with a boot capacity of 400-litres, which can be opened using an electric tailgate. The boot space can be further extended to 1,395-litres by folding the rear seats.
