Seltos, Carnival Help Kia Record Highest Month Sales In January
Kia Motors India has registered its highest ever monthly sales in January, 2020. The carmaker managed to sell a total of 15,450 units last month as opposed to 4,645 units of December 2019, accounting MoM sales growth of 232.6%. While the Kia Seltos SUV records sales of 15,000 units and 450 units of the Kia Carnival luxury MPV were dispatched to dealers. The latter one is slated to launch at the Auto Expo 2020.
Talking about the Kia Seltos, the compact SUV recently witnessed a price hike and now available in the price range of Rs 9.89 lakh – Rs 17.34 lakh (ex-showroom). The Korean carmaker has sold around 62,000 units of the Seltos so far. The SUV comes with three engine options – a 1.4L T-GDI petrol (138bh/242Nm), a 1.5L petrol (113hp/144Nm) and a 1.5L diesel (113bhp, 250Nm).
The turbocharged 1.4L petrol motor comes with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT gearbox options. The 1.5L petrol can be had either with a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. The 1.5L diesel is available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The Kia Carnival, the second product from the Korean carmaker in India, will come in 3 variants – Premium, Prestige and Limousine. Official bookings for the luxury MPV were commenced on 21st January, and on the very first day it gathered over 1400 pre-orders. One has to pay a token amount of Rs 1 lakh to pre-book the Carnival.
The Korean carmaker will further expand its Indian product portfolio with the all-new Kia Sonet compact SUV that will debut at the Auto Expo 2020. The vehicle will be put up against the cars like Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport.
