Royal Enfield, TVS Sales March 2021; Record Massive Growth

March 2021 has been a fruitful month for the Indian automobile industry. Most of the car manufacturers and two-wheeler makers have registered massive sales growth including the home-grown TVS Motor Company and Royal Enfield. Royal Enfield recorded a total sales of 66,058 units against 35,814 units of the same month previous year. With a margin of 30,244 units, the bikemaker accounted a growth of 84.45%. Royal Enfield continued to dominate the 350cc motorcycle segment with 88.51% of market share. The company managed to sell 58,471 units as opposed to 30,372 units of March 2020. It reregistered growth of 92.52%. In the 350cc segment, the bikemaker has four offerings – Classic 350, Electra, Meteor, Bullet. The company recorded 11.49% growth in the above 350cc segment.

In March 2021, TVS Motor witnessed a sales growth of 122.94% with total sales of 3,22,683 units against 1,77,944 units of the same month last year. The company managed to retail 1,57,294 units of motorcycles, 1,04,513 units of scooters and 45,630 units of moped. Its two-wheeler domestic sales and exports figures stood at 2,02,155 units and 1,05,282 units respectively. TVS sold a total of 15,246 units of three-wheelers in the month of March.

In other updates, TVS Motor Company is planning to give an update to the Apache RR 310 in the country. The updated model is likely to see a release on 7th April 2021. It’s likely to come with slightly improved styling, a couple of new features and new paint schemes. Engine setup might remain unchanged – i.e. 33.5bhp, 312.2cc motor.

Royal Enfield, on the other hand, is gearing up to roll out the new-generation RE Classic 350. The new model will underpin a new platform and share its engine with the RE Meteor. Some of its key highlights will include Tipper navigation, narrower round LED lights and turn indicators, new split seats and single-piece grab rail.
