New Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition has finally launched in India. Priced at Rs 2.4 lakhs (ex-showroom), the new model will be sold online on a first come first served basis. Only 1000 units of the Pegasus edition were announced globally, and 250 units have been allocated for Indian market. Earlier, the bike was scheduled to put on sale on 10th July, but on that date, RE site could not handle the traffic and crashed. Production of the bike has already been started at the company’s Chennai-based facility. The sale of the new Royal Enfield Pegasus will commence at 4 PM on 25th July 2018.

Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Specifications

No changes have been made to the engine mechanism of the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Edition. Similar to the regular Classic 500, this limited edition comes fitted with the 499cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that makes power worth 27.6bhp at 5,250rpm and 41.3Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. Power is delivered to the wheels via a 5-speed gearbox. Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Design

Unveiled in the UK earlier this month, the Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus pays tribute to the ‘Flying Flea’ motorcycle (Royal Enfield RE/WD 125) that was used by British paratroopers during World War II. This extremely lightweight 125cc Flea motorcycles were dropped in strategic locations using parachutes by British army to gain strategic advantage over rivals. What make this limited edition different from the standard model are the Pegasus badge on the fuel tank and the canvas panniers, blacked treatment on silencers, leather strap with brass buckles across the air filter and blacked out headlamp bezel, rims, handlebar, engine. Royal Enfield Classic 500 Pegasus Colours

While the UK-spec RE Classic 500 Pegasus Edition is available two paint schemes – Olive Drab Green and Service Brown, the India-spec version comes in a single Service Brown shade.
