Royal Enfield Himalayan GT Clay Model Reveals Design Details

The road-focused version of the Royal Enfield Himalayan was recently caught on camera during its test rounds. Now, the clay model of the upcoming bike has been leaked on the web. If reports are to be believed, the road-focused variant could be named Royal Enfield Himalayan GT. The bike, which is being under development at the company’s UK based facility, is expected to arrive by the end of 2021. The clay model looks similar to the existing adventure tourer. Though, it receives a few significant cosmetic changes.

The upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan GT misses out the windscreen and fork gaiters. The signature exoskeleton has been replaced with the tank shrouds. Compared to the adventure tourer, the road-focused Himalayan has smaller front tyre.  The rear mudguard and pillion grab rail have also been revised. While the rear luggage rack has been removed, the fork gaiters are replaced with hard case panniers. The bike’s instrument cluster seems to be borrowed from the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. The bike will also source the Tripper Navigation system from its 350cc sibling.

No changes are likely to be made to its engine setup. Similar to the adventure tourer, the new Royal Enfield Himalayan GT will derive power from the 411cc, single-cylinder engine. The bikemaker might calibrate the motor for producing extra power. At present, it pushes out a peak power of 24.8PS and 32Nm of torque. The road-focused Himalayan is likely to come with slightly tweaked suspension and braking system. Currently, the adventure tourer offers front and rear disc brakes along with the dual-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system). The suspension mechanism includes telescopic front forks and pre-load adjustable monoshock at the rear.

More details on the new Royal Enfield Himalayan road-focused bike are likely to be revealed in coming months. Stay tuned to IndiaCarNews.
