Royal Enfield Confirms New Platforms & New Bikes; 450cc Off-roader

Royal Enfield has reported its best-ever monthly sales last month with over 82,000 units sold. Not just India, RE’s latest motorcycle range including Meteor 350, Classic 350 and Interceptor 650 are inside the UK’s top 10 best-selling motorcycles of 2022. The company has recently launched the Hunter 350 motorcycle, which has received an overwhelming response from buyers.

Royal Enfield current motorcycle range based on 3 air-cooled engine platforms – a 349cc single cylinder, a 411cc single-cylinder and a 648cc twin-cylinder. The company has also showcased the Super Meteor 650 at the EICMA 2022. Speaking to MCN, Arun Gopal, RE’s Head of Business for Europe, said, “the range will increase. It’s difficult to give specifics now, but there are new platforms, and new variants coming.”

“We will expand our current platforms sooner than later. I can say that in the next 12 months we should be in a very, very different situation.” he added. Royal Enfield will soon launch multiple new motorcycles on its 650cc platform including the Super Meteor 650, Shotgun and others. Moreover, the company will launch the new-gen Bullet and the single-cylinder 450cc off-roader (New Himalayan 450).

Mr. Gopal also confirmed that every new motorcycle developed by Royal Enfield must first make sense in the Indian market before it goes global. The company is currently testing a new range of motorcycles on the Indian roads. The new-gen Bullet 350 based on the new RE’s 350cc J platform that underpins the Meteor 350, Classic 350 and the Hunter 350. Adding to it, RE is developing an all-new 450cc engine platform for its next-gen Himalayan off-roader.

Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 India

The new Super Meteor 650 is scheduled to make India debut at Rider Mania this month, while launch is expected in early next year. It will come in two variants – Standard and Touring. Powering the new motorcycle is a 648cc, parallel twin-cylinder engine that produces 47PS and 52Nm of torque. Transmission duties are performed by a 6-speed gearbox that comes with a slip-assist clutch.

It is the first Royal Enfield motorcycle to feature USD front forks. The motorcycle gets 320mm front and a 300mm rear disc brakes, which are assisted by the dual-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System). The motorcycle rides on 19-inch front and 16-inch rear wheels wrapped with 100/90 and 150/80 section tyres respectively.
