Renault Kwid has turned out to be a huge success for the French automaker in India. As the bookings keep pouring in, the hatchback has now cracked the one lakh domestic sales milestone. Launched in October 2015, the Kwid has completed a year in the Indian market, and has been one of the top volume generators in Renault’s lineup. Encouraged with the success of the Kwid, the company introduced two more variants of the vehicle – Kwid AMT & Kwid 1.0L (1000cc). Moreover, Renault India has announced its plan to expand Kwid lineup with a few more variants.
In October 2016, the French carmaker registered a total monthly sales of 12,409 units as against 7,396 units in the same period last year. Thus, the company accounted a growth of 67.8%. Breaching sales mark of 10,000, the Renault Kwid emerged as major contributor in the total sales of the company. In fact, the hatchback has been among India’s 10 best-selling cars since its launch. After achieving such sales figures, Renault India aims to export the car to the SAARC countries including Nepal, Sir Lanka, Bangladesh and Bhutan. Carlos Ghosn, Chairman and CEO Renault-Nissan Alliance, had confirmed that India will serve as an export hub for the Kwid. Though, it will continue to be produced in Brazil as well.
