Renault Zandar – An Electric SUV Based On Captur In 2021

Renault is working on a wide range of electric vehicles for the global markets. The company is all set to introduce an unprecedented electric SUV to target urban buyers. Called Renault Zandar, the electric SUV will directly rival the Peugeot e-2008.

The new electric SUV will be launched in the European markets in 2021. It will join the future Dacia Spring, which is an electric car based on the Kwid hatchback. A new media report claims that the Renault Zandar will have the same size as a Captur. It measures 4.20 meters in length, which is just 20cm smaller than the European model.

The new Renault Zandar will be designed and developed on the new CMF-EV platform, which is dedicatedly designed to accommodate electric vehicles. The electric vehicle is rumoured to come with two battery options with range between 300 and 500km. The report also claims that the SUV will have less ground clearance for improved aerodynamics.

Renault has already announced to sell only electric cars in the Chinese market. In Europe, the French brand will focus on electric SUVs. The company will launch the Zandar in 2021, which will be followed by the electric version of the Kadjar in 2022.

In India, Renault is planning to launch the Kwid electric. Called the Renault K-ZE, the small electric city car was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. The electric hatchback comes equipped with a 26.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack and an electric motor. The latter one returns a claimed power of 44PS and a peak torque of 125Nm. The Renault Kwid electric delivers a range of 271km (NEDC – New European Driving Cycle certified). It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmpn in 10.8 seconds before hitting a top speed of 105kmph.
