In a bid to improve market share, Renault India is all set to launch two new cars in the growing segments of the country. The company is aiming to increase its market share to 5 per cent in next 2 years. Renault will introduce an entry level small car and a compact MPV in the Indian car market in 2015.

We reported earlier that Renault will launch its entry level small car, codenamed XBA, in the country, which will be based on the versatile CMF-A platform announced last year. The CMF-A Platform, just like Volkswagen Group’s MQB architecture, can adopt different body style, size and engine lineup. This is the same platform on which the Datsun Redi-Go crossover will be based.

Under the hood, the Renault XBA small car will get a new 1.0-litre petrol engine which is in the development stage. This engine will be paired to a five-speed manual gearbox. The Renault XBA small car will compete against the likes of Datsun Go, Maruti Alto K10, Chevrolet Beat and others in the segment.

The next big product from Renault is the Lodgy MPV, which is scheduled to go on sale in the country by early 2015. It is basically a rebadged Dacia and shares the platform and components with the Duster SUV. This compact MPV is likely to be priced in the range of Rs. 7-9 lakh. It will be powered by the same 1.5-litre diesel engine producing two states of tune- 85PS and 105PS, and a 1.6-litre petrol.
