Renault Kwid Facelift launching tomorrow – to rival Maruti S-Presso

The much-awaited 2019 Renault Kwid facelift is all set to go on sale in the Indian market tomorrow. The company has already released the teaser images of the entry-level hatchback, which shows significantly re-styled exterior design. The 2019 Renault Kwid will directly rival the newly launched Maruti S-Presso mini SUV.

The top-spec Renault Kwid Climber variant has also been revealed in multiple spied images. The facelift will be the third Renault product this year in our market. The company had launched the updated Duster in July and the all-new Triber in August. It is reported that the refreshed Renault Kwid will be offered in 4 variants. Besides significantly revised exterior, the facelift will come with better equipped cabin.

2019 Renault Kwid Undisguised

Talking about design changes, the 2019 Renault Kwid comes with split-headlamp setup with LED daytime running lights on top and the main headlamp placed lower on the bumper. Upfront is a newly designed grille and headlamp set-up, which is styled similar to that of the Renault K-ZE electric city car of the Chinese market. Other changes include revised bumpers and new tail-lights with LED elements.

Inside the cabin, the Renault Kwid facelift will share features with the Triber sub-4 meter 7-seater MPV. It will be equipped with new digital instrument console with a tachometer, new steering wheel and an advanced 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

2019 Renault Kwid Undisguised Side

The French automaker will also make some structural changes to the Kwid’s platform, which will meet the upcoming crash test norms. In terms of mechanics, the Kwid facelift remain unchanged. It will be available with 2 engine options – a 54bhp, 0.8-litre and a 68bhp, 1.0-litre petrol. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT unit. The company will upgrade these engines to BS6 specifications in early 2020.
