Renault India is gearing up for the launch of the updated Kwid hatchback, which has already been revealed in undisguised images. Now, the company has officially released the image of the updated Kwid. The new image confirms that the Renault Kwid facelift shares significant design cues from Renault’c City K-ZE electric budget car for the Chinese market.

The most prominent change in the Kwid facelift is the split headlamp set-up, which we have already seen on cars including Hyundai Venue, MG Hector, Kia Seltos and Tata Harrier. The LED daytime running lights are placed on the top of the bumper, while the main headlight is located lower on the bumper. It gets the new front grille with a chrome bar that runs across the width to meet the daytime running lights.

At the back, the 2019 Renault Kwid gets new bumper with reflectors on the sides, and revised tail-lamps with LED elements. The company has released the image of the top-spec model, which is likely to the Climber variant. It gets orange highlights around the headlights and on the outside rear view mirrors.

The 2019 Renault Kwid facelift will be equipped with several new features, which will be shared with the Triber 7-seater MPV. The top-spec model will receive a digital instrument console with a tachometer, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a new steering wheel.

The 2019 Renault Kwid will be offered with 2 engine options – a 54bhp, 0.8-litre 3-cylinder and a 68bhp, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol. These engines will be upgraded to meet the BS6 emission norms in the first quarter of 2020. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox. The Renault Kwid facelift will directly rival the soon-to-be-launched Maruti Suzuki S-Presso.
