Renault Kwid EV Patent Images Leaked
The Renault Kwid EV hatchback might come to India by 2022.
Patent images of the production-ready Renault Kwid EV (electric) have been surfaced online revealing its exterior design details. Based on the Renault K-ZE concept that broke cover at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, the electric version of the hatchback will have its market premiere in China.
Renault’s Chinese partner – Dongfeng’s Shiyan, China based facility will serve production hub for the electric hatchback. Compared to its petrol counterpart, the Renault Kwid EV looks slightly different. Though, it shares most of its design bits with the former. Most of the changes will be made at the front end. The electric hatchback will feature a new grille, headlamp assembly and revised front bumper. With electric powertrain, the hatchback doesn’t require a radiator grille or air intakes. The headlamps and taillamps might get LED elements. The rear bumper will also be revised. The front and rear air intakes won’t be functional units. The electric powertrain of the hatchback is being developed jointly by Renault and its Chinese partner Dongfeng under the eGT New Energy Automotive joint venture that was formed in 2018. Renault has already confirmed that it will launch four new models in the Indian market by 2022. The plan outlines an electric vehicle that could the Kwid EV. If Renault Kwid EV will make its way to India, it’s estimated to be priced around Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom).
