Renault Kwid Climber Edition – Everything You Want to Know

With additional features and accessories, the Renault Kwid Climber Rs 25,000 pricier than the Kwid 1.0L RxT (1000cc).

Renault Kwid Climber has been officially launched in India at an introductory price of Rs 4.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The AMT variant is priced slightly higher than the manual at Rs 4.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Climber variant is the fourth member in Kwid’s line-up that also offers 800cc, 1.0L and AMT trim. Keeping up to its promise to add a new variant every six months, Renault has launched the Kwid Climber edition, based on the 1.0L variant. While the basic silhouette remains unchanged, the Climber edition has received as many as 17 new styling & design bits for a sportier and aggressive look.

The orange and blue bits on the exterior accentuate its sporty character. It also gets revised bumpers in front and rear. The Climber badge is another addition that separates it from the regular variant. The Kwid Climber edition inherits most of the equipment from the top-spec grade such as the 7.0-inch infotainment system with navigation etc. As mentioned in the beginning, the Climber edition is based on the top-spec 1.0-litre variant in the line-up and uses the same 67bhp and 91Nm unit to generate power. The power is fed to wheels through a five-speed manual unit and an AMT gearbox.

Based on the 1.0-litre variant, the Kwid Climber edition is radically similar to the regular trim save for few styling changes to the exterior and interior. Available with manual and AMT gearboxes, the Climber MT variant is out for retail at 4.30 lakh and the AMT version is available for Rs 4.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Power on the accessorized version comes from the 1.0-litre, SCe, three cylinder, DOHC engine is tuned to develop 67bhp at 5,500rpm and 91Nm of torque at 4,250rpm. The engine uses 5-speed manual gearbox and the five-speed Easy-R Gear Box for feeding power to wheels. Renault Kwid Climber Mileage

Using the 1.0-litre petrol engine from the regular trim, claimed to return 23kmpl, the Climber MT edition is tested to return 23.01kmpl by ARAI. The AMT unit is returns slightly more at 24.04kmpl.

With SUV-like dynamics, the Kwid Climber edition is essentially a heavily stylized version of the hatchback with higher ground clearance. To give it aggressive stance, Renault has added distinct tyres, wide tracks and short overhangs. As seen at the last year’s Delhi Auto Expo, the electric blue shade around wheel arches, splashes of orange around ORVMs caps ad roof rails enhance the visual appeal. In front, the revised bumper with plastic garnish around fog lamps and terrain protector completes the bold look.

Updates to the cabin are in line with the aggressive and sporty exterior styling. The Climber badge on seats, funky colour schemes infuse sportiness. In terms of features the Climber edition borrows most of the equipment from the range topping trim in the line-up. Layered with best-in-class features, the Kwid Climber offers ergo-smart cabin with multiple storage points and 300-litre boot space for storing luggage. Renault has added several new elements to up the styling quotient. It gets the new orange upholstery with Climber Insignia, vibrant orange accents on the AC vents and centre fascia, dual tone orange gear knob and door trims in front and rear. In addition, there is a chunky steering wheelwith ‘Climber’ Insignia and specific door mats to complete the sporty look.

Dimensions-

Numerically, the Climber edition measures 3,679mm in length, 1,579mm in width and 1,513mm in height. The wheelbase is 2,422mm long, allowing comfortable space inside. There is decent space for storing luggage in the 300-litre luggage compartment.

Suspension System-

In front, Climber gets Mac Pherson Strut with lower traversing link and rear equips twist beam suspension with coil spring.
