Renault, the French automaker had launched the Kwid Easy-R AMT in India in 2016. The vehicle was introduced at an introductory price of Rs 4.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This model is about Rs 30,000 pricier than the Kwid 1.0-litre manual variant. In order to further enhance its Renault Kwid AMT range, the company has introduced the Easy-R AMT in the lower-spec RxL variant. Adding to it, the RxL variant gets 1000cc engine along with manual gearbox as well. As a reminder, the 1.0L engine was earlier available only in the top-end EXT and RXT Opt variants. While the manual RxL 1.0L variant is priced at Rs 3.54 lakh, the RxL 1.0L AMT version is tagged at Rs 3.84 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
Interestingly, the KWID AMT version is more fuel efficient than the regular Kwid 1.0L. As against the manual version’s 23.01kmpl, the AMT model delivers 24.04kmpl. With new RxL variant, the powerful version becomes more affordable. The RxL 1.0L MT variant is 22,000 more than the 800cc model, while the RxL 1.0L AMT version cost Rs 30,000 more than the 1.0L manual version. The new variants get all the features that are available in the Rxl 800cc model.
The Kwid AMT features a 5-speed Easy-R gearbox, and has three modes – Reverse, Neutral and Drive. Similar to the 2016 Renault Duster, the Kwid has a crawl function that helps it move ahead without any throttle inputs. Save for the new Easy-R badging, the vehicle looks no different than the Kwid 1.0L. Both the Kwid 1.0L and AMT share the engine – i.e. 1.0-litre, 67bhp petrol. With such power figures, the Renault Kwid 1.0L (MT & AT) are positioned against the Hyundai Eon 1.0 and Alto K10. Also Read: Renault Kwid – All You Need to Know
