Renault Kiger Production Car Coming On January 28: Tata Nexon Rival

The much-awaited Renault Kiger sub-4 meter SUV will officially make its global debut in India on January 28, 2021. The company had showcased the ‘Kiger Showcar’ in November 2020, which previewed the brand’s upcoming sub-4 meter SUV. Renault claims that the production model will be 80% similar to the concept.

Renault Kiger will be a global product, and India will be its first market. The sub-4 meter SUV is expected to be launched in the second quarter of 2021, most probably in April. It will positioned as an affordable alternative to the likes of the Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon and the Hyundai Venue.

Renault Kiger SUV Launch

The new Renault Kiger sub-4 meter SUV is built on the CMF-A+ modular platform, which also underpins the Triber and the Nissan Magnite. The new model is jointly designed and developed by Renault corporate design teams in France and Renault India design.

Renault Kiger Design – What To Expect?

Renault claims that the production Kiger will remain true to its concept, which means that the SUV will have crossover-ish body with aggressive design elements. The concept had an interesting “California Dream” body colour, which is also called “Aurora Borealis”. This paint schemes changes from blue to purple depending on the angle and light.

Renault Kiger Concept Specs

The production version of the Renault Kiger has already been caught testing, which reveals that the compact SUV has aggressive design elements. It features a winged grille with two horizontal slats, split headlamp set-up with LED DRLs on top and main headlight placed lower down the bumper, squared-off wheel arches, dual-tone bumper, black plastic cladding and split tail-lamps.

The compact SUV will come with sloping rear glass, roof-integrated spoiler and differently-styled C-pillar. The vehicle will ride on 16-inch alloys.

Renault Kiger Key Features

The Kiger is expected to share most of the features and interior styling from the Triber MPVB. The spy images reveal that the Kiger will have dual-tone interior scheme along with new dashboard and central console design. It will have a floating 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Other features will include a wireless charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, digital instrument console, automatic AC, dual glovebox, cruise control, around view monitor, etc. The Kiger could be the smallest SUV to offer a factory-fitted sunroof.

Under The Hood?

Not just platform, the Renault Kiger will share the engine specs with the Nissan Magnite. It will be offered with a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine in naturally-aspirated and turbo versions. While the NA unit produces 72bhp and 96Nm, the turbo unit produces 99bhp and 160Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic (Turbo-Only).
