Renault Kiger Aggressive Front Teased; Debut Next Week

The Renault Kiger, the new sub-4 meter SUV from the French carmaker, is ready to make its debut on 28th January, 2021. Ahead of its official unveiling, the carmaker has dropped the first teaser picture of the production-ready model revealing its front fascia. The model features projector headlamps and LED DRLs that look similar to the concept. The teaser image shows its upright, sporty silhouette with slightly visible front grille featuring the signature logo, ORVMs and roof rails.

The production-ready version is likely to stay true (around 80%) to the concept that was unveiled in November last year. It might carry the alloy wheels, neatly sculpted boot with black cladding on the rear bumper, C-shaped LED taillamps, reverse light and rear wiper and steeper rear windshield as we seen in the concept. The new Renault compact SUV will be designed on the CMF-A+ platform that also underpins the newly-launched Nissan Magnite.

Renault Kiger Price Expectations

If reports are to be believed, the upcoming Renault Kiger compact SUV will have more features than its cousin – Magnite. It could be packed with goodies such as an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, automatic climate control, three-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls, push button start and more. Its interior layout is likely to be similar to the Triber subcompact MPV. Read – Next-Gen Renault Duster Could Be Inspired By Dacia Bigster Concept

Engine details of the new Renault compact SUV are yet to be revealed by the carmaker. Though, it’s reported to come with the 1.0L turbocharged and 1.0L naturally aspirated engine options. While the former is good enough for 100bhp and 160Nm, the latter promises 71bhp and 96Nm. Similar to the Nissan Magnite, the Renault Kiger will get the standard 5-speed manual gearbox and an optional 6-speed CVT automatic transmission (with turbo-petrol variants only).

Renault Kiger Concept Specs

the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Oragadam, Tamil Nadu will serve as production hub for the upcoming Kiger SUV. With heavy localization, we expect it to be priced competitively. In fact, it will be the most affordable Renault SUV in the country. Prices of the upcoming new Renault compact SUV are likely to start from Rs 5.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
