Thanks to the strong demand for the Kwid, Renault India registered an impressive growth of 173% in its domestic sales. The French carmaker sold a total of 11,837 units in June 2016 as against 4,340 units in the same month last year. Interestingly, the company has recorded a sales growth of 165% in the first six months of this calendar year. As against 23,246 units sold in the first six months last year, the company sold 61,895 in 2016.
Besides aggressive product strategy to increase its position in the market, Renault India is also focusing on increasing its sale and network reach. The company aims to reach to have 270 outlets by the end of this year, from the current network strength of 210 sales points.
Besides this, the French carmaker is also entering multiple automotive business verticals in India. Renault Selection, the company’s pre-owned car business brand, is one such service that allows customers to buy, sell and exchange certified pre-owned cars of all brands. Renault Finance, Renault Assured (for cashless accident repairs) and Renault Secure (for road side assistance & extended warranty) are other services that the company is offering currently,
Though the company hasn’t released the model-wise sales data, the Renault Kwid must have been the biggest contributor. Just so you know, the average monthly sales of the Kwid is around 7500-8000 units.
Later this year, the company plans to bring in the 1000cc version of the Renault Kwid; while the AMT-equipped variant might come in the first half of the next year.
