Renault HBC (Hyundai Venue Rival) Launch Details Confirmed
Renault HBC, the upcoming subcompact SUV from the French carmaker, will go on sale in India in the second half of 2020. Here, it will be positioned against multiple cars including Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and the upcoming Kia QYi.
Sharing its platform and components with the Triber, the Renault HBC compact SUV is likely to be priced competitively. Official details of the vehicle are yet to be revealed. Though, it’s reported to come with a new 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine that will debut on the Triber MPV early next year.
The new gasoline motor comes with an exhaust manifold which is partially integrated into the cylinder head. Its power figure will be close to 95bhp. The subcompact SUV lineup will come with two transmission options – a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit.
Design and styling of the Renault HBC is likely to be inspired by the Duster and Captur SUVs. A digital rendering suggests that the compact SUV will feature a chrome studded U-shaped grille with signature badge at the centre. The side profile looks SUV-ish with pronounced wheel arches, bold creases and roof rails. Its ground clearance will be higher than the Triber.
