Renault will also launch an all-new compact SUV in the country in 2020.

French automaker, Renault is going through rough phase in the highly competitive Indian market. As per SIAM date, Renault India’s market share has come down to 2.3% in FY2019 from the 4.43% in FY17. In order to improve sales, Renault will launch 4 new models in the country in the next 16 months.

Renault will soon launch the new Triber 7-seater multi-utility vehicle. This model will be based on the modified Kwid’s CMF-A platform. The Renault Triber will directly rival the segment-leader Maruti Ertiga, though it will be priced relatively on a lower side. According to ET Auto, Renault will also launch an all-new compact SUV in the country in 2020.

Codenamed Renault HBC, the compact SUV is expected to be positioned against the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and the Mahindra XUV300. It is expected to be based on the CMF-A modular platform, which also underpins the Triber SUV. The new Renault HBC SUV is likely to be priced lower than the competition to gain competitive advantage.

Speaking to ET Auto, Venkatram Mamillapalle, Managing Director, Renault India said, “As part of our mid-term plan which is 2020-22, we will be launching two all-new models–the RBC (code name for the new multipurpose vehicle Triber) that will be launched in the September quarter, and the HBC (code for an unnamed new compact SUV) which will be rolled out in 2020.” Also See – Renault Kwid based electric vehicle makes global debut

Mr Venkatram further said that the second leg of the revival plan is to more than double the product from 24 percent to over 50 percent.
