Renault HBC Compact SUV Imagined Via New Rendering

Renault HBC Rendered

It is no secret that Renault is readying an all-new sub-4 meter SUV for the Indian market. Codenamed HBC, the new sub-4 meter SUV will be based on the CMF-A modular platform that also underpins the Triber and the Kwid. The new SUV is expected to be the most affordable in its category. If reports are to be believed, the Renault HBC compact SUV will make global debut at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo.

A speculative rendering of the compact SUV have hit the internet, which reveals the possible design. The Renault HBC will take on the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and others in the sub-4 meter SUV category. The digital rendering shows that the upcoming Renault HBC looks like a compact version of the Duster. Some of the design highlights shared with the Triber. It has triple-layered grille with Renault logo in the middle, projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, black mesh-type central air-dam, silver skid plate, sculpted bonnet, black plastic cladding, chromed treatment, strong creases on the side and machine-cut alloy wheels.

The interior layout and most of the features are likely to be shared with the Triber. The SUV will be powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine that also powers the Triber. This engine produces 71bhp and 96Nm of torque. The company is also developing the turbocharged version of this engine with higher power and torque value. We believe that the Renault HBC could use the turbocharged version of the engine. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox.

The Renault HBC will undercut the prices of its most rivals in the market. Expect the base model to cost as low as Rs 6 lakh, while the top-end model could be priced around Rs 8 lakh. The new SUV will be compliant with new safety and crash test norms. All the mandatory safety features will come as standard.
