Renault Expands Sales Network Ahead of Kiger Launch

Renault India has expanded its sales network in the country. The carmaker has added over 40 new sales and service touchpoints in December 2020 and a total of over 120 touchpoints across the nation last year.  Now, Renault India has more than 500 sales and over 475 service touchpoints including 200+ Workshop On Wheels. Currently, the carmaker has three offering in its Indian product portfolio – Kwid, Triber and Duster. The Renault Kiger subcompact SUV will soon join the bandwagon.

The production-ready Kiger is ready to make its global debut on 28th January 2021, followed by its launch. Its launch date, however, is yet to be announced by the carmaker. In the sub-4 meter SUV space, the new Renault SUV will face challenge from the cars like the newly-launched Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza and more.

Engine setup of the upcoming new Renault compact SUV is likely to include a 1.0L turbocharged and 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol motors. These are the same powertrains that do duty in the new Magnite. While the turbo petrol unit has been tuned for generating power worth 100bhp against 160Nm, the naturally aspirated engine pushes out a peak power of 71bhp and 96Nm of torque. Besides engines, the upcoming Renault Kiger will share its gearboxes with the Magnite. The compact SUV will receive a 5-speed manual gearbox (standard) and a 6-speed CVT automatic transmission (optional). The latter will be reserved for the turbo-petrol variants.

The carmaker says that the production-ready Kiger will be close to its concept that broke cover in November last year. It will retain the upright stance along with elements such as LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, newly sculpted boot and rear bumper with black cladding, C-shaped LED taillamps, rear wiper and steeper rear windshield. The upcoming new Renault Kiger SUV will underpin the brand’s CMF-A+ platform that has already used in the Magnite.
