Priced at Rs 10.32 lakh (ex, Delhi), the 2017 Renault Duster petrol automatic goes up against the Hyundai Creta automatic.

Further expanding its Duster lineup, Renault India has added a new petrol automatic (CVT) variant to the carline. Interestingly, the Renault Duster petrol automatic comes with an all-new 1.5-litre H4K engine instead of the old 1.6L petrol unit. This new gasoline unit makes 104.5bhp, thus making it 2.5bhp more powerful than the 1.6L petrol model. Mileage has also been slightly improved. For performing transmission duties, the car gets a new CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) steeples gearbox.

Besides the new powertrain, the Renault Duster petrol automatic gets additionally safety features including passenger side airbag, Hill Start Assist and ESP (electronic stability programme). The French carmaker is now also offering driver side airbag, ABS (anti-lock braking system), EBD (electronic brake-force distribution) with brake assist as standard safety fitments on the petrol MT variants. Available only in the RXS trim, the Renault Duster petrol automatic is being priced at Rs 10.32 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). With such competitive pricing, the new Duster CVT goes up against the Hyundai Creta automatic and Ford EcoSport 1.5 AT that cost at Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. It also takes on the Honda BR-V CVT, which comes with a price tag of Rs 12.26 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Major updates have been made under the skin. The all petrol variants of the 2017 Renault Duster is now powered by an all-new 1.5-litre H4K petrol motor, which is a downsize version of the 1.6L unit. Though, the carmaker has managed to improve power and mileage figures of the motor. The new petrol mill churns out a top power of 104.5bhp at 5,600rpm against 142Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. On the other hand, the 1.6 H4K unit is capable of making 102bhp and 148Nm.

The new Duster petrol automatic version comes fitted with a 6-speed CVT stepless gearbox, which is already used for the Scala sedan. The new auto box has a pulley for gear shifting, and offers the most suitable gear ratio for providing better drivability. It also aids to the fuel efficiency of the car. Packed with a new 1.5L petrol engine with CVT gearbox, the new Duster petrol automatic proves more fuel economical than the manual version. This new CVT variant returns a claimed mileage of 14.99kmpl, the manual version delivers 14.91kmpl.

Renault Duster Petrol Automatic (CVT) Design Changes

With subtle design updates, the new Duster CVT looks slightly more refreshing than the manual version. Upfront looks sportier with elements like dual-tone body coloured bumper and a new black finished grille. The CVT version, additionally, comes fitted with 16-inch gunmetal finish alloy wheels. The side decals, black door side sill and tailgate decal further enhance its appearance. Inside, there is a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and new fabric upholstery.

The 2017 Renault Duster petrol range is now available with standard ABS, EBD with brake assist and driver side airbag. The Duster CVT petrol model exclusively gets passenger side airbag, Hill Start Assist and ESP.
