Renault Duster facelift with 4×4 variant coming this year

French automaker Renault is aiming to launch a series of new products in the growing Indian market. The company will launch the Duster facelift and the Lodgy MPV in the country. Moreover, Renault is also working on a new compact car (Codenamed XBA) which is expected to come India by the end of next year.

The Duster compact SUV is the company’s top selling car in India which has been widely accepted and hunted after. But the growing competition in the form of vehicles like the Nissan Terrano, the Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra Scorpio has affected its sales. Moreover, the other car manufacturers are also planning to launch their compact SUVs in the country. However, Mahindra’s old gun Scorpio still the country’s top selling sports utility vehicle in the league.

To offset the growing competition and to offer more options to its buyers, Renault is gearing up to launch the facelifted version of Duster SUV. The company will also introduce the 4×4 variant of its hot seller in India. If media reports to believe, Renault might also launch the automatic variant of the SUV; however, the company hasn’t revealed much about this variant.

The Renault Duster facelift get a restyled fascia. The front façade of the SUV features a new grille, reworked headlamp design and a newly formulated air intake. It is loaded with new scuff plates both at the front and rear, new tail lamp assembly and new 16-inch alloy wheels in Dark Metal shade. The roof rails have been modified and Duster logo is embossed on it.

Inside the cabin, this updated SUV gets a restyled instrument cluster, seat upholstery options, steering mounted controls instead of one behind the wheel, new centre console, and few more. Adding to it, the redone SUV features cruise control and speed limiter, electronic stability program, rear park assist and dual front airbags as standard.

Mechanically, the Renault Duster facelift will remain unchanged. While the oil burner has a 1.5-litre engine that is tuned to offer two state of power 84bhp and 110bhp, the 1.6-litre petrol engine producing 102bhp. The petrol engine and lower spec diesel engine have been paired to a five-speed manual transmission gearbox, while the 110bhp model is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.
