Renault today officially revealed the launch date of highly anticipated Duster AWD variant. Set to go on sale on September 24, 2014, the Duster AWD will take on the likes of Scorpio 4×4 and the Tata Safari 4×4. The company has already released the teaser video of the Duster AWD SUV. This AWD variant of the SUV will provide a go-anywhere characteristics for the young enthusiasts in India.
There is not much change in the styling and interior components of the Duster AWD. The majority of the upgrades are given to the mechanics of the SUV. It is equipped with a 4-wheel drive system driven by HALDEX clutch and independent rear suspension. The vehicle is powered by the same 1.5-litre K9K turbo diesel engine that churns out a maximum power output of 108bhp and 248Nm of peak torque. Power is transmitted to all 4-wheels via a six-speed manual transmission gearbox. Interestingly, the Duster AWD is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 19.72kmpl which is about .71kmpl more than the 2-wheel drive version.
The Renault Duster AWD comes with a large ground clearance of 205mm and offers a turning radius of 5.2 metre, which makes easier to drive the SUV through both on and off-road. The vehicle is loaded with several high end features such as cruise control, anti-slip regulation, hill start assist and electronic stability program. The interiors of the SUV feature new upholstery with contrasting red stitching. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 13 lakh.
