Expected to be priced between Rs 3 lakh – Rs 5 lakh, the Renault ‘LBC’ Kwid compact sedan might undercut its rivals – Maruti Swift Dzire and Honda Amaze.
The Renault Kwid compact sedan will share its platform, features and engine with Kwid hatchback.
Launched in September 2015, the Renault Kwid has proven to be a triumph card for the French carmaker. In order to further increase its sales, Renault will introduce two new variants of the Kwid – 1000cc and AMT – during this festive season. Besides these variants, the carmaker is also working on a sub-compact sedan and SUV that will be based on the Kwid’s CMF-A modular platform. Codenamed ‘LBC’, the Renault Kwid compact sedan will compete against Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze and others in the segment.
The sub-compact Kwid sedan might be launched in India sometime in 2017. However, there is no official confirmation about the launch timeline of the vehicle.

The new sub-compact Kwid saloon will share resemblance with the Kwid hatchback, especially the front fascia. The major difference will be the addition of the third box after the C-pillar. Design elements like black front and rear bumpers, prominent wheel arches, roof spoiler, black side body cladding and body-colored tailgate spoiler could be borrowed from the hatchback. With an aim to improve its cabin space, Renault might increase dimensions of the saloon.
This new sedan will also borrow its interior design and features from the Kwid. It might get piano black finish on centre console, chromed air vents, a 7-inch touchscreen display with navigation system, power windows, airbags and several other comfort and safety features.
Power for the sub-4 meter Renault Kwid sedan might come from a 1.0-litre SCe (Smart Control efficiency) DOHC engine that will debut on the Kwid 1000cc. This powertrain will be capable to develop a maximum power around 64.1bhp – 69bhp. Transmission options on offer could be a 5-speed manual and an AMT.
