Renault India has finally introduced its long-awaited compact SUV – Captur – in the country. In terms of pricing and positioning, this premium SUV sits above the Duster. The compact SUV shares its platform, components and engine with its smaller sibling. In the compact SUV space, the Captur will compete against the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Creta.
1. Price & Variants
Renault’s new compact SUV is being offered in the price range of Rs 9.99 lakh – Rs 13.88 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). One must note that the prices are introductory. Available in three trims, the Captur comes with both petrol and diesel engine options. While the petrol variants are priced between Rs 9.99 lakh – Rs 11.69 lakh, the diesel models come in the range of Rs 11.39 lakh – Rs 13.09 lakh. The Platine diesel model comes with a price tag of Rs 13.88 lakh. The dual-tone roof option is available only on the RXT and Platine that will cost you only Rs 17,000 more. 2. Shares Engine with Duster
The premium compact SUV uses the tried and tested 1.5-litre K9k diesel and 1.5-litre petrol engine. Both these powertrains have been borrowed from the Duster. The gasoline unit delivers 104.5bhp with 142Nm, and the oil burner churns out 108bhp with 245Nm. Transmission on offer is a 6-speed manual, supported by two-wheel-drive system. 3. Crossover-ish Design
In terms of design and styling, the India-spec Captur shares a strong resemblance to its European version. Therefore, it looks different from the compact SUVs that we see here. Though, the car has a ground clearance of 210mm. Design bits such as full LED headlamps with LED DRLs, signature chromed grille, blacked out C-pillar, 17-inch alloy wheels and LED tail lamps give it a premium look. 4. Vibrant Colour Schemes

5. Pack of Features
The five-seater SUV comes with a host of smart features such as a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, cruise control, rear AC vents, and more. The infotainment unit comes with voice recognition feature and Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivity. Sadly, it isn’t compatible to Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. 6. Multiple Customisation Options
Renault is offering a range of bespoke options with the Captur. There are two customisation kits – Diamond Deck and Urban Connect that include roof decal, body decal and ORVM scalp along with additional leather smart car sleeve and floor mats.
