Royal Enfield had showcased its newest motorcycle, the Super Meteor 650 at EICMA 2022. The new RE Super Meteor 650 has now been showcased to Indian public at the Rider Mania event in Goa. In fact, RE has announced that the pre-launch bookings for the Super Meteor 650 are now open exclusively for registered Rider Mania participants. Prices of the new Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 will be revealed in January 2023.
Expected to be priced somewhere around Rs 3.4-3.5 lakh (ex-showroom), the new RE Super Meteor 650 will be the brand’s most expensive motorcycle in India. The new motorcycle is the third Royal Enfield to be based on the 650cc platform; however, it has new chassis and many first features from RE. This platform currently underpins the RE Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. Not just Super Meteor 650, RE is also testing a 650cc Classic and a new 650cc Scrambler on the Indian roads.
The new RE Super Meteor 650 comes equipped with Showa USD front fork, a full-LED headlamp setup and Tripper Navigation system as standard. Powering the motorcycle is a 648cc, air and oil-cooled parallel twin engine that produces power worth 47bhp at 7,250rpm and 52Nm of torque at 5,650rpm. The new cruiser is claimed to have bespoke mapping and gearing and its 80% peak torque arrives at 2,500rpm. For braking, the bike gets 320m disc at the front and a 300mm disc at rear that is further assisted by dual-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS).
The new RE Super Meteor 650 has low seat height of 740mm and forward set footpegs. The motorcycle carries a kerb weight of 241kg. The cruiser has a low ground clearance of 135mm and offers a fuel tank of 15.7-litres. It will be offered in two variants – Standard and Tourer. The motorcycle will be offered in total of 7 colour options. The standard version will come in 5 colour options – Astral Black, Astral Blue, Astral Green, Interstellar Grey, and Interstellar Green. Meanwhile, the Tourer will be offered in two colour options – Celestial Red and Celestial Blue.
