Land Rover’s all-new Range Rover Velar is ready to hit Indian roads towards the end of this year. Official bookings for the SUV have already been commenced across the nation. Prior to its launch, the First Edition of the Velar has been caught on the camera. The SUV carline will come in three grades – Standard, R-Dynamic and First Edition – in the price range of Rs 79 lakh – Rs 1.18 crore (ex-showroom).
The Velar First Edition will get some additional features over the standard model. This special edition sports Matrix-Laser LED headlamps with signature daytime running lights, sliding panoramic roof in contrasting black colour and First Edition moniker on the B-pillar. The standard model of the SUV runs on 19-inch 5-spoke Style 5046 wheels with Satin Dark Grey finish, while 20-inch 10 spoke ‘Style 1032’ wheels with Diamond Turned finish come as optional. Inside, the Velar’s special edition gets 23-speaker Meridian Signature Sound System, heated windscreen, heated steering wheel, surround camera system, Head-up display, adjustable ambient lighting and illuminated treadplates. Features such as heated rear reclining seats, 20-way heated/cooled front seats with memory and massage functions in Light Oyster/Ebony perforated Windsor Leather, suedecloth headlining and unique carbon-fibre with Copper Wire Weave trim finishers with First Edition branding further enhance its comfort and style quotient. Globally, the Velar First Edition comes with two engine options – the D380 petrol and the D300 diesel. Though, the India-spec version will be offered with diesel engine only. The oil burner makes a top power of bhp against 700Nm of torque. All variants of the SUV will get an 8-speed automatic gearbox and an AWD system as standard. The First Edition will come with a pack of performance features such as Configurable Dynamics, All Terrain Progress Control (ATPC), Active Rear Locking Differential, Terrain Response 2 and Wade Sensing.
