Punjab CM, Ministers & Officials To Get Over 400 Luxury Cars
The Punjab Chief Minister, Amarinder Singh will get the bullet proof Toyota Land Cruiser SUVs.
Yes, you read that right! Punjab Chief Minister, Ministers, MLAs and bureaucrats will soon get swanky SUVs and cars as their official vehicles. The Transport department of Punjab has released an order to provide over 400 luxury cars to the officials of the state government. The list of vehicles will include Toyota Land Cruiser, Fortuner and Innova Crysta MPV along with Mahindra Scorpio, Honda Amaze, Maruti Ertiga and Maruti Dzire.
The Punjab Chief Minister, Amarinder Singh will get the bullet proof Toyota Land Cruiser SUVs replacing his existing six bullet-proof Mitsubishi Montero and eight Ambassadors. While the staff will posses 13 Mahindra Scorpio SUVs, the officers on special duty (OSDs) to the CM will receive 14 Maruti Dzire, Ertiga and Honda Amaze. As per the order, 17 ministers of the CM cabinet will get Toyota Fortuner SUVs or Toyota Innova Crysta MPVs instead of Toyota Camry and 97 Toyota Innova Crysta will be provided to legislators.
All new luxury vehicles approved for the state ministry are likely to worth around Rs 80 crore on the state exchequer. This decision has been criticized by the farm organization including BKU (Bharatiya Kisan Union). They said that it will be an extra burden on state exchequer. Officials revealed that the state government of Punjab does not place a purchase order as of now.
