Skoda Auto India recently rolled out three new models including the all-new Karoq SUV, Rapid 1.0 TSI and Superb facelift. The Skoda Vision IN compact SUV will be the next big launch from the Czech carmaker in the country. The model was first previewed in its concept form at this year’s Auto Expo and is slated to hit showrooms early next year. Ahead of its official arrival, the patent images of the Vision IN SUV have been leaked on the web revealing its close-to-production avatar.
The production version of the Vision IN will carry a new nameplate and take head-to-head against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks and Renault Duster. Its prices are estimated to start from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). Interestingly, it will be one of the first models from Skoda to be designed on the MQB A0-IN platform. The new uniform yet variable architecture allows incorporating several innovative assistance systems from higher vehicle segments in the compact car segment.
The leaked patent images reveal that the production-ready version will share strong resemblance with the concept that broke cover at the biennial event. Upfront looks quite aggressive, thanks to its multi-slate, butterfly grille, black cladding on the bumper and air intakes and sleek LED headlamps and LED fog lamps. The side profile has been adorned by dual-tone alloy wheels, large roof rails, black B-pillar and sleek ORVMs. The SUV will also get a panoramic glass roof. At the back, the model features sharply-designed LED taillamps with new logo, muscular bumper and a rear spoiler. While dimensions of the production-ready Skoda Vision IN will remain unchanged, it might get 17-inch alloy wheels instead of 19-inch alloys. The concept was 4256mm long and 1589mm tall with a 2671mm long wheelbase. Some of its key features will include a 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, LED ambient light, connected vehicle services, multiple airbags and more.
Engine setup of the Skoda Vision IN will include a 110PS, 10.L, 3-cylinder TSI petrol and a 150PS 1.5L, 4-cylinder TSI EVO turbo petrol unit. While the former produces a peak torque of 175Nm, the latter delivers 250Nm. The compact SUV lineup will come with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic (for the 1.5L variants only) transmission option.
