Production-Read Kia SP SUV To Debut In April 2019 – Report

The SUV is likely to make its first public appearance at the 2019 New York Auto Show.

Kia Motors is ready to introduce its first product in India that will be based on the SP compact SUV concept. Scheduled to launch in the second half of 2019, the production version of the Kia SP concept is reported to make its first public debut at the New York Auto Show. This ten days automobile event will begin on 8th April, 2019.

The trial production of the Kia SP concept based SUV will commence in January, 2019 at the carmaker’s Ananthpur plant. The Kia SP concept based SUV will share its underpinning and powertrains with the Hyundai Creta. Currently, the latter comes with three engine options – a 1.4L petrol, a 1.6L petrol and a 1.6L CRDi diesel. Feature-wise, the new Kia 5-seater SUV is likely to be loaded with several comfort and connectivity features including a large touchscreen infotainment system and the first-segment digital instrument cluster. The latest spy pictures suggest that the production version will retain most of the design and styling bits from the concept that was previewed at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo.

Official name and details of the Kia SP concept based SUV will be revealed near its launch. Though, it is likely to be named Tusker or Trazor and is estimated to be priced around Rs 10 for the base model and Rs 16 lakh for the top-spec trim. In India, the new Kia SUV will take directly on the Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur.
