Porsche Macan SUV India launch in June?

Ultra-luxury carmaker, Porsche is expected to launch the Macan SUV in the Indian car market this year. If media reports to believe, the SUV will make its Indian debut by the June, 2014. Considering the current politics and changes expected to be seen in the Indian politics, the company has been delaying the launch. New government is expected to be form once the results of the elections will be announced on 16th May. Porsche has been waiting for the new budget and policies for the luxury cars, so that the Macan can be priced competitive in the market.

For the Indian buyers, the Porsche Macan SUV is likely to be made available in two trims- a top of the line Macan S Diesel and the Macan Turbo. The Macan S Diesel is packed with a 3.0-litre V6 powertrain that churns out a maximum power output of 258bhp and 580Nm of top torque. It accelerates to 100kmph from standstill in just 6.3 seconds and catches a top speed of 230kmph. The Macan Turbo gets the 3.6-litre bi-turbo petrol engine that is capable of producing 400bhp of max power and 550Nm of top torque. This model zoom pass 0-100kmph barrier in mere 4.8 seconds and attains a top speed of 266kmph. Both variant will feature PDK and all-wheel drive as standard.

The Macan SUV is the company’s cheapest offering, which helps the company to smartly transit from the niche sports car maker to a premium carmaker. It shares its styling cues with the Cayenne; however, it has a different rear that sports a tailgate mounted spoiler and slender taillights. The SUV features the LED-infused headlights, a sloping roofline and curvaceous bodywork. It is based on the Volkswagen’s MLB platform, which underpins the Audi Q5 crossover. The interiors of the Macan SUV too resemble the Cayenne, as the three-spoke steering wheel, dashboard and centre console are directly lifted from its bigger sibling. It also features metallic accents and a large infotainment system.

The Porsche Macan will be brought via CBU (Completely built-in unit) route, which make it pricy. The exact pricing details for the vehicle is yet to be announced, but we expect it to be priced in the range of Rs. 80-90 lakh.
