Likely to be unveiled at Delhi Auto Expo 2018; the Peugeot 3008 SUV will rival the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster

PSA Group, the French automaker has announced to start India operations in 2020. The company has collaborated with CK Birla Group to start their innings in the country. Hindustan Motor Finance Corporation will take care of sales and distribution of PSA cars in India, while AVTEC will make powertrains. The company will locally develop products to achieve aggressive pricing. If media reports are to be believed, Peugeot will initially launch a compact SUV, a premium SUV and a hatchback in the country. According to Overdrive, Peugeot 3008 global SUV could be company’s SUV for the Indian market. Additionally, the SUV could make its India-debut at the upcoming 2018 Delhi Auto Expo.

The Peugeot 3008 SUV will enter into the fastest growing SUV segment comprising of products like Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and the Honda BRV. This SUV is based on the Efficient Modular Platform (EMP) that has been designed by PSA Peugeot Citron. It has been designed to produce compact and mid-sized cars with FWD and 4WD and transverse engine. This platform can be modified to accommodate different body styles and suspension mechanism. The global model is available in both petrol and diesel guise. While the petrol version gets 131PS, 1.2-litre unit, the oil burner will be a 1.6-litre unit that produces a power output ranging between 99-120PS. The performance-oriented car gets a 2.0-litre BlueHDi engine, mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Peugeot 3008 India Launch

The French automaker will start selling products in India from early 2020. This compact SUV is expected to be the first Peugeot in the country, and it could be launched at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. If reports are to be believed, the Peugeot 3008 compact SUV could be unveiled at the forthcoming Delhi Auto Show in February.

Peugeot 3008 India Specifications

The global model is available with BlueHDi diesel, PureTech and e-THP petrol engine options as standard. The GT variant is also equipped with a 2.0-litre BlueHDi 180 S&S engine, coupled to a six-speed automatic unit. The gasoline engine is a 1.2-litre turbocharged unit that also powers the Peugeot 208, but it has been tuned to offer 131PS of power. On the flip side, the diesel engine will be a 1.6-litre unit that produces a power output ranging between 99-120PS.

The overall styling Peugeot 3008 SUV looks appealing from every angle. It comes equipped with several premium exterior features and lots of sharp creases and curves that add to its sporty profile. The company has recently updated this SUV in global markets, and gets two new variants ‘GT Line’ and ‘GT’. It has double chrome exhaust pipes on either side of the bumper, while a ‘Coupe Franche’ dual colour exterior paint design. The flared wheel arches have been fitted to large 19-inch Boston” alloy wheels. Other features include aluminium roof bars, chrome door mirror shells, optional electric operated tailgate with foot-movement operation, etc.

Inside the cabin, the Puegeot 3008 SUV features i-Cockpit design theme. The digital cockpit gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and an 8-inch capacitive touch screen infotainment system. The top-spec GT Line variant is equipped with sports style seats with Imilia leather effect and Brumeo cloth materials. This fabric is also offered on the door panels. Features include a multi-point massage function, 2-position memory function for the driver’s seat with 8-way electric adjustment, front and rear parking sensors, six airbags and touchscreen infotainment system. Front seats come with a heating function. It also gets panoramic opening glass roof.
