Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced that the company has sold over 9 lakh units of the Innova MPV, holding more than 40% segment share. While the MPV segment witnessed a decline in February 2020, the Innova Crysta registered one of the highest segment shares with 52.91% since its launch in 2016. The carmaker has also revealed that the Toyota Fortuner has held 54% of segment share in the last one year alone. In February 2020, the fully-fledged SUV registered the highest segment share of 63.9% as opposed to the last one year.
The Toyota Innova was first launched in 2005 and entered into its second generation in 2016. Recently, the carmaker rolled out the BS6-compliant version of the MPV in the price range of Rs 15.36 lakh – Rs 22.02 lakh (all, ex-showroom Delhi). The MPV comes with two engine options – a 2.4L diesel and a 2.7L petrol.
In order to celebrate its segment leadership, Toyota introduced the Innova Crysta Leadership Edition at Rs 21.12 lakh (ex-showroom). Based on the VX variant, the special edition has been made available with diesel-automatic gearbox combination only. The model also gets two new dual-tone colours – White Pearl & Black and Wildfire Red & Black.
Talking out the Toyota Fortuner, the SUV will soon receive a mid-life update in the country. The latest spy pictures reveal that the updated will share some of its design bits with the global-spec Toyota RAV4 SUV. Globally, the SUV has been offered with multiple engine options. The 2020 Toyota Fortuner facelift is likely to hit our shores by the end of this year.
