Over 8,000 Maruti Grand Vitara Sold In October 2022

Maruti Suzuki had launched two new SUVs – the new Brezza and the Grand Vitara in the past 6 months. Both SUVs have received positive response from buyers, as they collectively record over 2 lakh bookings. While the Brezza bookings crossed 1.4 lakh mark, Maruti Suzuki has received over 60,000 orders for the new Grand Vitara. In fact, the strong hybrid variants account for more than 40 percent of total bookings.

Maruti Suzuki has released its October 2022 sales data, which shows an impressive year-on-year growth of 28.76%. The company has sold 9,941 units of the Brezza and 8,052 units of the new Grand Vitara in October 2022. On the other hand, Hyundai and Kia sold 11,880 and 9,777 units of the Creta and Seltos respectively. The Grand Vitara commands a waiting period of up to 5-6 months, depending on variants, city and dealerships.

For people not in the know, the Maruti Grand Vitara is manufactured at Toyota’s Bidadi based plant near Bangalore. It is based on Suzuki’s Global-C platform which also underpins Brezza and Toyota’s Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The SUV is available with two engine options – Suzuki’s 1.5L K15C petrol with mild hybrid tech and Toyota’s 1.5L TNGA petrol strong hybrid engine. The self-charging hybrid SUV offers multiple drive modes – EV, Eco, Power and Normal.

The mild hybrid engine is capable of producing 101bhp and 136Nm of torque with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. It comes with the optional Suzuki’s AllGrip AWD system. The strong hybrid powertrain is claimed to offer 92bhp at 5,500rpm and 122Nm at 4,400rpm. It is paired to an AC synchronous motor that’s good for 79bhp and 141Nm of torque. The maximum usable power and torque stands at 115bhp and 122Nm respectively. With an e-CVT gearbox, the Maruti Grand Vitara strong hybrid offers fuel economy of 28kmpl.

The mild hybrid version is priced in the range of Rs 10.45 lakh to Rs 17.05 lakh, while the strong hybrid is available in the price bracket of Rs 17.99 lakh to Rs 19.65 lakh (ex-showroom). It is exclusively sold through NEXA premium dealership network. MSI Is also offering  a ‘special introductory package’ comprising of extended warranty till 5 years/1 lakh km and a complimentary Nexa accessory pack worth Rs 67,000. The SUV can also be had via leasing option with monthly subscription fee starting from Rs 27,000.
