Honda Cars India has issued a voluntary recall for its select models in order to replace the faulty fuel pump. The recall exercise will include a total of 65,651 units manufactured in 2018. The fuel pump installed in these vehicles might have defective impellers that could over time result in engine stopping. The carmaker has specified that 32,498 units of the Amaze, 16,434 units of the City sedan, 7,500 units of Jazz hatchback, 7,057 units of the WR-V compact SUV, 1,622 units of the BR-V, 360 units of the Brio and 180 units of the CR-V have been recalled in the country. The replacement will be done free of cost at Honda’s dealerships across the nation. The replacement procedure will be conducted in a phased manner starting from 20th June 2020. Owners of the affected units will be contacted individually. The customers can check whether their cars are covered under this campaign by submitting their 17 character alpha-numeric Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the special microsite which has been created on the company’s website.
As the dealer facilities are currently functioning with limited staff to ensure strict implementation of safety and distancing norms specified by the government authorities, customers are advised to visit the dealer with prior appointment to avoid inconvenience. In coming months, the Japanese carmaker will roll out the updated models of the Honda WR-V small SUV and Jazz hatchback. The fifth-generation Honda City is also reported to make its way in coming weeks. Reports suggest that the new City will come in VX and Z trims packed with 1.5L petrol and diesel engines. There will be two gearboxes on offer a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic. Some of its key changes will include LED headlamps and LED taillamps, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a three-spoke multi function steering wheel, a lanewatch camera and 6 airbags.
