Maruti Suzuki India has announced a recall for the select petrol SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) variants of the Ciaz mid-size sedan, Ertiga MPV and XL6 crossover. The recall exercise affects a total of 63,493 models that were manufactured between 1st January to 21st November, 2019.
The carmaker will inspect a possible issue related to the Motor Generator Unit (MGU) and replace if it’s required. There might be a possible defect in the MGU during manufacturing by an overseas global part supplier.
Owners of the affected Maruti Suzuki petrol SHVS variant vehicles will be contacted by their respective dealerships for inspection and replacement of the faulty part. The entire process will be done free of cost.
Customers who own the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Eritga or XL6 petrol SHVS variant can themselves check whether their vehicle is covered under the recall exercise or not by login on the company’s official website. One has to fill in the chassis number of his/her car on the special page created by the company.
