MG Motor India has recorded total sales of 2851 units in August 2020, registering a growth of 41% over the same month last year. The carmaker has revealed that its newly-launched Hector Plus 6-seater and ZS EV SUVs have witnessed good traction their respective segments. With the support of the state government in Delhi and Telangana, the company believes that the electric vehicle segment would see a further increase in momentum soon.
At present, the British carmaker has three models in their Indian product portfolio – Hector, Hector Plus and ZS EV. Recently, the carmaker has increased prices of the Hector Plus SUV that comes in four trims – Style, Super, Smart and Sharp. Now, the 6-seater SUV can be had in the price range of Rs 13.74 lakh – Rs 18.69 lakh (ex-showroom). Engine setup of the model includes a 2.0L diesel, 1.5L turbo petrol and 1.5L petrol with 48V mild hybrid system. While the oil burner makes power worth 170bhp, the turbo petrol motor is good enough for 143bhp. There are two gearboxes on offer – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT.
The British carmaker has confirmed that it will launch the MG Gloster 7-seater SUV by this Diwali season. Touted as India’s first Autonomous (Level I) premium SUV, the Gloster will be able to detect an imminent frontal collision and automatically applies brakes. When it senses a potential impact, it will also offer visual and audio alerts to drivers. The SUV will have several segment-first safety features including adaptive cruise control, park assist and lane keeping assist.
Under the hood, the new MG premium 7-seater SUV will feature a 2.0L diesel motor that can be had either with a manual or an automatic gearbox. The oil burner will be offered with turbo and twin turbo options generating power worth 224bhp and 218bhp respectively.
