Over 2 Lakh BS6 Maruti Suzuki Cars Sold In 6 Months

Maruti Suzuki India today announced that the company has sold over 2 lakh BS6 (Bharat Stage VI)- compliant vehicles in just 6 months of short duration.

In April 2019, the carmaker introduced its first BS6-ready vehicle – Maruti Suzuki Baleno – that comes with a new 1.2L Dualjet powertrain. This was followed by the updated Maruti Suzuki Alto hatchback that’s packed with a 796cc engine.

In June 2019, the Indo-Japanese carmaker expanded its BS6 range with the launch of WagonR (1.2L), Swift hatchback and Dzire subcompact sedan. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga received the BS6-ready 1.5L VVT petrol engine pushing out power worth 104bhp and 138Nm of torque.

The newly-launched Maruti Suzuki XL6 premium MPV and S-Presso mini SUV also come with the BS6-compliant 103bhp, 1.5L SHVS petrol and 68bhp, 1.0L petrol engines respectively.

Commenting on the milestone, Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director &CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “We thank customers who have opted for our BS6 range of vehicles. We believe that mass adoption is one of the most important factors for success of any new technology. Offering eight BS6 compliant petrol vehicles in the mass segment, much ahead of timeline, has helped us to reach this technology to a larger customer base.”

“Early introduction of the BS6 range represents our commitment to Government of India’s vision for clean and green environment”, he further added.

Maruti S Presso Details

Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch the Vitara Brezza and S-Cross with a BS6 1.5L petrol powertrain in coming months. While the petrol iteration of the crossover will hit showrooms by the end of this year, the Brezza petrol will see a release early next year.
