Maruti Suzuki introduced the second-generation Brezza with comprehensive upgrades in June 2022. Now, the company is gearing up to launch its first mid-size, strong hybrid SUV – Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. Prices of the model will be announced in the third week of September, 2022. The carmaker has confirmed that the new Maruti Brezza and Grand Vitara are high in-demand and received over 140,000 bookings worth around Rs 25,000 crore.
With major booking contribution of the top-end Grand Vitara variants, the average price of both SUVs is around Rs 15 lakh per unit. The strong demand for the new Brezza and upcoming Grand Vitara will help the company regain its 50 percent PV market share in the country. While deliveries of the Vitara are yet to begin, Maruti Suzuki has delivered around 45,000 units of the new Brezza.
With addition of the new Maruti Eritga and XL6 booking numbers, the company’s cumulative bookings stand at 240,000 units worth around Rs 35,000. The new breed of Maruti Suzuki SUVs is likely to boost its annual SUV sales by double fold – around 300,000 units. Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director Sales and Marketing at Maruti Suzuki, said that the company will bring in more SUVs in the near future. The company’s average selling prices have increased, thanks to its new models and increasing vehicles’ prices.
For the next year, the Indo-Japanese automaker has planned two major SUV launches including the Baleno-based compact SUV and 5-door Jimny off-road SUV. Codenamed Maruti YTB, the hatchback based Maruti Baleno Cross will make its debut at the 2023 Delhi Auto. The model is likely to feature a new 1.0L Boosterjet petrol engine (around 100bhp/150Nm) with a 48V mild hybrid SHVS system and integrated starter generator (ISG). The 5-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny is reported to hit roads by mid 2023.
