Ora R1 – World’s Cheapest Electric Car at Auto Expo 2020

Great Wall Motors has unveiled the World’s cheapest electric car – the ORA R1 at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. Besides ORA R1, GWM has also showcased the Haval SUV range including the H4, H6, H9 and the Concept H at the biennial event. In the Chinese market, the ORA R1 is retailed at a subsidized price of 59,000 to 77,800 yuan (approx Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9 lakh).

– The ORA R1 is currently the world’s cheapest electric car.
– The range-topping model is claimed to offer 351kms of range on full charge.
– It features 33kWh battery and electric motor offering 48PS and 125Km.
– The R1 pure electric has a limited speed of 102kmph.

The ORA R1 electric city car measures 3.49m in length, which makes it shorter than the Maruti Suzuki Celerio. It comes packed with a 33kWh battery (28.5kWh in the base model) and an electric motor that produces around 48PS of power and 125Nm of torque. The entry-level car has a limited top speed of 102kmph.

The entry-level city car is claimed to have an electric range of 350km, which is higher than the Tata Nexon EV. In fact, the entry-level model offers a range of 310kms. Adding to it, the battery can be charged up to 80 per cent using a fast charger in 40 minutes.

The ORA R1 comes with battery heating and brake engery recuperation. Inside the cabin, the electric city car features a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with the voice command support. The base model comes with features like dual airbags, ABS, reverse camera and parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring and hill start assist.

The pure electric car comes with electronically adjustable outisde rear view mirrors, 4 speakers, multi-functional steering wheel and Bluetooth telephony. In fact, the range-topping ‘Goddess Edition’ comes with autonomous emergency braking and six airbags.
