Odd-Even Rule back in Delhi – Dates and Other Details
In order to curb pollution during winters, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the next edition of the Odd-Even road rationing plan in Delhi will be held from November 4 to 15. The government of Delhi has announced seven-point action plan to tackle pollution due to crop burning. Government will distribute masks, mechanised sweeping of roads, planting trees and special plans to tackle pollution in 12 hot spots in the City.
The Odd-Even scheme was first introduced in Capital City in 2016. This time, the Odd-Even rule will be applicable on private cars and two-wheelers; however, women drivers will be exempted. The new rule will be applied only on weekdays, not on the weekends.
Study claims Delhi as the world’s most polluted capital city. The major cause of pollution includes vehicles and industrial smoke, dust from construction sites and crop burning. Arvind Kejriwal also urged people to avoid bursting crackers.
Delhi Government also plans to buy electric buses and invited corporates to invest in electric buses. A new bus aggregator policy will be announced soon, while 1,000 electric buses will be introduced in national capital.
