No SsangYong-badged Products For India; Future Plans Revealed
Mahindra & Mahindra aims sell 500 units of the Alturas G4 on monthly basis.
Mahindra & Mahindra recently introduced its flagship SUV in India – the Mahindra Alturas G4. At the launch event, Pawan Goenka, Managing Director at Mahindra & Mahindra, has confirmed that the company will bring in a range of new global products in the country under joint collaboration with SsangYong. Both companies will also share platform, engine, technology and connectivity and hybrid solutions. This will help the carmaker price its new models at much lower costs.
The all-new Mahindra AlturasG4 (which is the fourth-generation Ssangyong Rexton) is one of the first products that Mahindra aims to introduced in association with the South Korean carmaker. He also confirmed that the company has no plan to introduce any global SsangYong product in near future. Though, it will continue to retail re-badged for re-engineered products from SsangYong with Mahindra brand name.

Mr Goenka also revealed that M&M aims to sell 9,000 units per month of its upcoming three new products planned for this fiscal year. The home-grown carmaker aims sell 500 units of the Mahindra Alturas G4 on monthly basis, and acquire 10-12% of market share in the premium SUV space with sales target of 4,500 units per month. The Alturas G4 is made available in two trims – 2WD and 4WD – priced at Rs 26.95 lakh and Rs 29.95 lakh (all, ex-showroom). It has been put up against the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Skoda Kodiaq and Isuzu MUX.
