Nissan Terra 7-Seater SUV Will Be Toyota Fortuner Rival In India

Nissan Terra 7-seater SUV is based on the third-generation Navara’s body-on-frame chassis.

We informed you earlier that Nissan might launch the Terra 7-seater SUV in India. At the unveiling of Kicks, the Japanese brand said that it will introduce the global SUV range including Patrol, Pathfinder, Terra and others in India. The Terra 7-seater SUV was unveiled in April 2018. This SUV is specifically developed for South East Asian markets and is already on sale in China and Philippines.

Nissan has adopted a new approach to play premium in India. The company is aiming at its capable SUV to drive sales in the highly competitive market. Since premium SUVs are gaining good response from buyers, the Terra could be a good product in India. It is based on the third-generation Navara’s body-on-frame chassis. The SUV will challenge the likes of Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, Isuzu MU-X and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.

In terms of proportions, the Nissan Terra is 4.9 meters in length, 1.9 meters in width, 1.8 meters in height and has a wheelbase of 2.9 meters. The SUV comes with a ground clearance of 225mm. The SUV is bigger and spacious than its direct rivals, which should give it a competitive edge. Powering the new Nissan Terra is the new YD25 2.5-litre diesel engine that churns out 188bhp of power at 3,600rpm and 450Nm of torque at 2,000rpm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed automatic unit. The top-end model also gets a part-time 4WD system with locking rear differential. Chinese-spec model gets a 2.5-litre petrol engine producing 182bhp at 6,000rpm and 251Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. The Terra SUV shares styling cues from the Navara pickup. It is equipped with LED headlamps with LED DRLs, a larger V-Motion grille and aggressive bumper. Inside the cabin, the SUV gets high-end features including dual-zone automatic climate control, leather seats, 8-way adjustable driver’s seat, and infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Support.
