Nissan Announces Price Hike On Entire Range From January 2018

The reasons for the price hike were cited to be increased input costs and fluctuations of foreign exchange rates.

Nissan’s Indian product lineup include five models – Micra hatchback, Micra Active, Sunny sedan, Terrano compact SUV and GT-R sports car.

Nissan India has announced its plan to increase prices of all its models by up to Rs 15,000. The new prices will be effective from January 1, 2018. Nissan’s low-cost brand, Datsun will also see a price hike across its product lineup. The price hike will vary variant-wise. The reasons for this decision were cited to be increased input and manufacturing costs and foreign exchange rate fluctuations.

Car manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, Mahindra & Mahindra, Volkswagen, Tata Motors, Renault, Isuzu and Skoda have already announced a price hike.

Nissan Motor India – Managing Director, Jerome Saigot said, “With the rise in input and manufacturing costs, Nissan has decided for a price hike across all Nissan and Datsun models with effect from January 1, 2018. Nissan’s Indian product lineup include five models – Micra hatchback, Micra Active, Sunny sedan, Terrano compact SUV and GT-R sports car. Prices of the Micra Active and the Micra hatchback start from Rs 4.60 lakh and Rs 5.99 lakh respectively. While the Nissan Sunny sedan comes with a starting price tag of Rs 6.99 lakh, the Terrano SUV is available at Rs 9.91 lakh. The company’s flagship supercar – GT-R – has been priced at Rs 2.08 crore. Talking about Nissan’s future plan, the Japanese carmaker aims to expand its electric product lineup in India. The company will bring in its globally popular – Leaf hatchback, and the all-new Nissan e-Note. With an aim to tap the growing premium compact SUV segment, the carmaker will introduce the Kicks in 2018.
