Nissan Patrol SUV Might Come To India

Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV will be the next big launch from the Japanese carmaker in the country. Slated to hit roads in May 2020, the Magnite will be put up against the cars like Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and the upcoming Kia Sonet. According to a latest media report, the company is considering to launch its flagship SUV – Nissan Patrol – in the Indian market.

Here, it will be imported via CBU (Completely Built Up) route under the government’s new regulation that allows a company to import 2,500 units without any homologation procedure. If launched in India, the Nissan Patrol will take head-to-head against the Toyota Land Cruiser and Lexus LX. Its prices are likely to start from Rs 1.5 crore.

Under the hood, the India-spec version is likely to feature a 5.6L, V8 petrol engine paired to a 7-speed automatic gearbox. The same powertrain does duty in the South Africa and Australia-spec Patrol. The gasoline motor delivers a maximum power of 405bhp against 560Nm of peak torque. Nissan equips the new Patrol with Hydraulic Body Motion Control (only on V8 models) suspension technology that ensure better drivability with reduced vibration. It also comes with intelligent emergency braking system with pedestrian detection and the intelligent forward collision warning system.

Interior is quite plush and feature loaded. The 2020 Nissan Patrol has a new center console with dual displays (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay) along with new diamond stitch quilted leather seats. The new hand stitched steering wheel and front seats with optional climate control and powered lumbar support further enhance its comfort quotient. Nissan’s flagship is SUV has robust body built. Some of its design highlights include new boomerang-shaped LED headlamps, Nissan’s V-motion grille (interpreted in a new way) with the signature badge, revised taillamps, sequential rear turn indicators and a large chrome nameplate.
